| Psalm 341 I will alway give thanks unto the Lord * his praise shall ever be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord * the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O praise the Lord with me * and let us magnify his Name together.
Lots of great things going on right now in my life. Here's a really brief run-down:
- 6+ months of marriage to my bride
 - Daily provision of subbing work to keep me busy and help with family finances.
- Long term subbing contract for the 28 days in Feb-March and tentatively for April 9-?
- Home Church determined, involved in the radio ministry every 5th week
- Health for myself and my bride
- Daily bread (food and other needs within budget)
I guess all of this is a good reminder to remember those that brought me here: - Parents, Relatives and Friends for their impact on my life
- My better half (wife)
- Veterans who fought and are fighting so I can live in freedom
- Jesus Christ, who died that my sins might be forgiven

| Shirley and I had a great Christmas. Here are some photo highlights:
About a week before Christmas, we put up our little tree and decorated the apartment: Here's Shirley with a few ornaments bearing her name: We also spent a lot of time in the kitchen making yummy foods: Here I am with a pie crust. The pie turned out good... the crust was not so good: Successes in the kitchen call for celebration: Here was our spread of treats for Christmas Eve: This year Santa mailed gifts... ok, it wasn't santa, it was relatives (mostly Mom Bradley). The boxes stacked up higher than the tree. Luckily, most of them were more packing material than present (we don't have space in the apartment for much more stuff): We had an amazing Christmas dinner: It was a great time together, and to celebrate the birth of our savior. We pray your holiday was as special as ours!
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

| The weather outside has been truly delightful recently- cool and crisp. On Friday I took off bright and early to do some hunting at Dorer Pools in the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area. I arrived at about 7 o'clock (before sunrise) and found a spot along a bank near a pond to lie down and watch for ducks and geese. Well, I didn't have a chance to shoot anything, but I saw an awful lot of creation...
- I saw 2 families of swans (either tundra swans or whistling swans- they had dark faces)
- One was 2 parents and 3 youth
- One was 2 parents and 2 youth
- I saw a pair of bald eagles
- They flew right over my head... if they were ducks I'd have had a nice clean shot...
- They sat in a dead tree on the other side of the pond (about 1/4 mile away) and whistled at at other.
- I saw a silly little diving duck diving and popping up all over the place.
- I'm pretty sure I saw a large flock of coots darting in an out of the reeds across the way.
- I saw masses of blackbirds/grackles/starlings flying in formation.
- I did see a few ducks and geese, but not very close.
- I saw an amazing sunrise over water as still and smooth as glass.
After 3 hours, I got up, went to another spot in the same WMA and looked for squirrels. I didn't see any, but I tramped around for an hour or so looking. Later that afternoon I sat in the sun and cracked some walnuts (a little kid saw me and said "look, he's cracking cococuts!")
It was a good day to scratch the itch to get outdoors!

| Shirley and I borrowed a hymnal from a church that we attended for a short period of time, and I was surprised that there was hymn in it that was in Yup'ik. Since we really need to return the hymnal, I'm recording the words here for my own future reference... and for any one else that might be interested in them. The hymnal is called "The Covenant Hymnal, A Worshipbook"

Sorry about any misspellings... My biggest question about this translation of the creed is: why is "Jesus Christ" in it 2x? It can't be a very literal translation.

| Last evening I surprised Shirley with dinner... I mean, she knew that I was going to make dinner, but the service and show was what I surprised her with. I had spiffy salads on plates in the fridge, deviled Swiss steak with peas and rice in the oven staying warm, and dessert served and in the fridge. So, when she came home from the clinic and got in the shower, I pulled out candles (thanks Mom Bradley), turned on some romantic-ish music (thanks Marjo), put out a tablecloth and cloth napkins, dressed up in my suit, put out the salads, poured strawberry-kiwi soda into champagne glasses, and met Shirley as she got out of the shower.
I acted like a combo of waiter and date at dinner.
It was a lot of fun! (she was pretty surprised!)
